Mechanics of Structure

The image below depicts a detailed analysis of how weight and load gets transferred throughout a RCC framed structures and the different forces acting on it. This course introduced us to the basics of how different structural systems work and the different parameters to keep in mind when building structures. Structural designing systems provide all the crucial information about foundations, walls, floors, roof types, steep beams, material quality, and more to ensure that the structure is built to be safe and sound. Structure is an essential element that defines the shape of the architectural shape and space. It contributes to the aesthetical value of the building. Even though structural system is not exposed it still has a significant influence on the form if the building.

Learnings

This course helped us understand the workings and functionality of different structural members in a building and how they corelate with each other. About how different forces act on a structural system and how they influence the form of a structure. It gave a clear understanding of how load transfer works and how materiality affects it.
